19th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC)
Event Overview
In May 2025, the Indonesian Parliament hosted the 19th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) at Gedung DPR, Senayan, Jakarta.
With the theme “Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillars of Resilience”, the four-day conference gathered over 450 parliamentary delegates from 38 member states. Discussions spanned critical political, economic, and cultural matters, including women’s participation in parliament, sustainable development, global cooperation, and the ongoing Palestinian cause.
The event culminated in the Jakarta Declaration, reflecting unity among participating nations and reaffirming the PUIC’s role as a platform for parliamentary collaboration.

Our Solution

Congress Indonesia was engaged to deliver a comprehensive simultaneous interpretation system, ensuring seamless communication across six official languages: English, Indonesian, Arabic, French, Turkish, and Persian.
Given the venue’s limited permanent interpreting infrastructure, our team deployed a hybrid solution combining Congress’s mobile ISO 4043 booths with existing chambers for interpreters. Uniform interpreters’ desks in all mobile and permanent chambers were then installed, to ensure consistent quality. This flexible approach enabled:
Meetings – 12th to 13th May 2025:
-
Banggar Room: 6 mobile interpreting booths and 113 headsets
-
Commission II Room: 2 mobile interpreting booths and 50 headsets
-
Commission IV Room: 2 mobile interpreting booths and 50 headsets
-
Commission V Room: 3 mobile interpreting booths and 50 headsets
Paripurna I for Plenary – 14th to 15th May 2025:

-
4 mobile interpreting booths
-
500 headsets
This tailored setup required precision installation, and close collaboration with interpreters and local partners.

Navigating Challenges

Transitions:

The biggest challenge faced was transitioning from multiple meetings to a large-scale plenary session. Originally, the plan was to relocate interpreting equipment overnight between sessions. However, due to last-minute agenda changes, meetings ran late into the evening, compressing setup time for the plenary.
Despite these constraints, our team worked overnight to reposition and install the system. Through their professionalism, the plenary hall was prepared on time for the President of Indonesia’s opening address, a testament to our team’s expertise and reliability.

The Outcome
The PUIC conference ran seamlessly across all four days. Delegates from all 38 nations participated fully and confidently, assured that every interaction was accurately interpreted. The stress-free experience for both organisers and participants was a direct result of Congress’s flawless technical delivery and organisation. It reinforced the credibility of the host parliament and underscored the vital role of professional interpretation in fostering clear communication and international engagement.
